Ten inner absence experiences of children and young adults are discovered and mapped. The narratives were created through the collaboration of each child or young adult with an artist. The artists set to work with the descriptions of the children and young adults. How does your music sound, is it a male or female voice? The composer then finds the key and builds a composition. Where exactly is your bed when you get so scared? The artists recreate the child’s room. What does the wolf behind you look like?

We go to Artis Zoo and look for different wolf appearances in horror films. What could the mummy do to you to be less scary? We craft a papier-mâché mummy. core/paragraph What colour black do you see? Which colour black do you see? We paint black with fifteen pigments. How does the shape swallow you up? We create Virtual Reality parallel worlds. In this way, the ten stories are precisely mapped and shaped together with the children.

On 6 July 2016, we held the presentation of the artworks at the Nieuw en Meer studio complex. Visitors called it a mini-documenta; the children’s experiences could be seen, heard and experienced all over the site. No one had ever asked how it felt, what they were experiencing. Until now.
