Alexa

14 December 2021

Alexa (13) recites how she experienced the out-of-home placement through an English essay, in front of a collection of child judges, councillors, policy makers, administrators, youth care workers, foster parents and other experience experts. WHAT a gem!

Alexa’s lecturewas part of a dialogue held in Rotterdam, the second of a series of ten, in response to the documentary ALICIA, about a girl in a children’s home who has been waiting for years for a permanent place, but is constantly moved from institution to institution. The dialogues are there to find a solution to stop that carousel. More information on aliciadocumentaire.nl/agenda

By the way, may there be another word for foster parent and foster child? It is as ‘wrong’ a word as stepmother. Anyone any suggestions? (according to Alexa)
